In my early years as a home-school mom, I thought I could do it all. However, I eventually realized I needed to reach out for more help. While I was fully capable of teaching and assisting my daughters with their academics, I was a single mom, working part time and running my own business. Employing additional educational support and accountability for them was one of the wisest decisions I made in their academics. Like me, some parents find that their students need more help with their studies than they can give them during the week, while others find that their kids respond more positively to an outside tutor. That’s where I come in! As a former third grade teacher, a veteran home-school mom and Classical Conversations tutor, and a college English Composition instructor, I decided to launch my own private tutoring business jb Tutors, LLC in 2021, and I am loving it! Tutoring students on a regular basis has been the most rewarding experience of my teaching career to date.

However, I believe there is so much more to being an effective tutor than possessing a list of degrees and accomplishments, such as exhibiting qualities of enthusiasm, positive attitude, patience, understanding, making a connection with the student, and the ability to present material in an understandable way.
